I'm still working on values, values, values!

My graisille was on a quite dark ground.

The other day, I painted all areas "in the light" with a thin coat of white.  Otherwise, my lights would be too dark.  I let that paint dry for a few days. 

Today I added color over the "whitened" grisaille of the portrait.  After the colors were applied, I softened almost all of the edges and rechecked values.  I always need to go back into my shadows and darken.  I also needed to make a few drawing corrections. 

I used primarily the Zorn palette (4 colors)

I tried to remain mindful of the "fall of light".  The shoulder area is lighter only because the angle is more perpendicular to the light source. Perhaps I should have darkened them down a bit since they are farther from the light?  Not sure...
